Oscar De La Hoya (The Golden Boy) is a 52-year-old retired American professional boxer. He is a six-weightclass world champion with 10 world-title wins. In a career spanning 16 years and 13 days, De La Hoya amassed a record of 39-6, which includes 30 wins via KO, 17 of which were in world-title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2014.
Oscar De La Hoya was born in East Los Angeles, California, U.S. on February 4, 1973. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on November 23, 1992 against Lamar Williams. De La Hoya defeated Williams via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
De La Hoya became a world champion at the age of 21 after 11 professional fights. He challenged Jimmi Bredahl for the WBO super-featherweight title and stopped the champion in the 10th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully conquer the lightweight (WBO, IBF), super-lightweight (WBC), welterweight (WBC), super-welterweight (WBC, WBA, The Ring), and middleweight (WBO) divisions as well to become a six-division world champion.
De La Hoya's last fight was an 8th-round RTD loss to Manny Pacquiao at age 35, on December 6, 2008.
