Jimmi Bredahl was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 26, 1967. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on March 17, 1989 against Des Gargano. Bredahl defeated Gargano via 6 round points decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Bredahl became a world champion at the age of 25 after 12 professional fights. He challenged Daniel Londas for the WBO super-featherweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round majority decision, winning his first world title.
