Boxing Career
Ricardo Mayorga was born in Granada, Nicaragua on October 3, 1973. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on July 20, 1993 against Jose Morales. Mayorga defeated Morales via 3rd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Mayorga became a world champion at the age of 28 after 27 professional fights. He challenged Andrew Lewis for the WBA welterweight title and stopped the champion in the 5th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the super-welterweight (WBC) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Mayorga's last fight was a 2nd-round TKO loss to Lester Martínez at age 45, on April 6, 2019.
