John John Molina was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on March 17, 1965. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on February 25, 1986 against Job Walters. Molina defeated Walters via 4-round majority decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Molina got his first shot at a world title at the age of 23 after 19 professional fights. On October 27, 1988 Molina challenged Tony Lopez' IBF super-featherweight title but lost via 12-round unanimous decision.

In his next fight, he got another shot at the super-featherweight WBO title — this time against Juan Laporte. He defeated Laporte via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.

Molina then went on to successfully win the IBF super-featherweight world title as well.

Molina's last fight was an 11th-round TKO loss to Juan Lazcano at age 36, on May 5, 2001.
