Shane Mosley was born in Lynwood, California, U.S. on September 7, 1971. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on February 11, 1993 against Greg Puente. Mosley defeated Puente via 5th round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Mosley became a world champion at the age of 25 after 23 professional fights. He challenged Philip Holiday for the IBF lightweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully conquer the welterweight (WBC, WBA) and super-welterweight (WBA, WBC, The Ring) divisions as well to become a three-division world champion.
Mosley's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to David Avanesyan at age 44, on May 28, 2016.
