Vernon Forrest was born in Augusta, Georgia, U.S. on February 12, 1971. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on November 25, 1992 against Charles Hawkins. Forrest defeated Hawkins via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Forrest became a world champion at the age of 30 after 32 professional fights. He challenged Raul Frank for the vacant IBF welterweight title and defeated Frank via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the super-welterweight (WBC) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Forrest's last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Sergio Mora at age 37, on September 13, 2008, in which he won the WBC super-welterweight world title.
