Thomas Hearns (The Hitman) is a 66-year-old retired American professional boxer. He is a five-weightclass world champion with 7 world-title wins. In a career spanning 28 years, 2 months, and 10 days, Hearns amassed a record of 61-5-1, which includes 48 wins via KO, 9 of which were in world-title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2012.
Thomas Hearns was born in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S. on October 18, 1958. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on November 25, 1977 against Jerome Hill. Hearns defeated Hill via 2nd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Hearns became a world champion at the age of 21 after 28 professional fights. He challenged José Cuevas for the WBA welterweight title and stopped the champion in the 2nd of the 15-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully conquer the super-welterweight (WBC, The Ring), middleweight (WBC), light-heavyweight (WBC, WBA), and super-middleweight (WBO) divisions as well to become a five-division world champion.
Hearns' last fight was a 10th-round TKO victory over Shannon Landberg at age 47, on February 4, 2006.
