Nate Miller was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. on August 3, 1963. He made his professional debut at the age of 23 years on September 30, 1986 against Tony Jackson. Miller defeated Jackson via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Miller got his first shot at a world title at the age of 30 after 26 professional fights. On July 23, 1994 Miller challenged Al Cole's IBF cruiserweight title but lost via 12-round unanimous decision.
He became a world champion on July 22, 1995 at the age of 31 years, after by defeating Orlin Norris, the then-reining WBA cruiserweight champion, via 8th round KO. This was his 30th fight as a professional.
Miller's last fight was a points decision loss to Vincenzo Rossitto at age 37, on June 23, 2001.
