Marvelous Marvin Hagler

Marvelous Marvin Hagler was born in Newark, New Jersey, U.S. on May 23, 1954. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on May 18, 1973 against Terry Ryan. Hagler defeated Ryan via 2nd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Hagler got his first world-title fight at the age of 25 after 49 professional fights. On November 30, 1979 Hagler challenged Vito Antuofermo's WBA, WBC, and The Ring middleweight titles but lost via 15-round split decision.

He became a world champion on September 27, 1980 at the age of 26 years, after by defeating Alan Minter, the then-reining WBA, WBC, and The Ring middleweight champion, via 3rd round TKO. This was his 54th fight as a professional.

He then went on to successfully win the IBF middleweight world title as well — and undisputed at middleweight.

Hagler's last fight was a split decision loss to Sugar Ray Leonard at age 32, on April 6, 1987, in which he lost his WBC and The Ring middleweight titles.
