Boxing Career
Mikkel Kessler was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 1, 1979. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on March 20, 1998 against Kelly Mays. Kessler defeated Mays via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Kessler became a world champion at the age of 25 after 34 professional fights. He challenged Manny Siaca for the WBA super-middleweight title and stopped the champion in the 7th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the WBC super-middleweight world title as well.
Kessler's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Carl Froch at age 34, on May 25, 2013, in which he lost his WBA (Regular) super-middleweight title in a unification bout.
