Andre Ward was born in San Francisco, California, U.S. on February 23, 1984. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on December 18, 2004 against Chris Molina. Ward defeated Molina via 2nd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Ward became a world champion at the age of 25 after 20 professional fights. He challenged Mikkel Kessler for the WBA (Super) super-middleweight title and defeated the champion via 11 round technical decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the light-heavyweight (WBA, IBF, WBO, The Ring) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Ward's last fight was an 8th-round TKO victory over Sergey Kovalev at age 33, on June 17, 2017, in which he successfully defended his WBA (Super), IBF, and WBO light-heavyweight championship and won the vacant The Ring belt.
