Masao Ohba (The Eternal Champion) was a Japanese professional boxer. He was a flyweight world champion. In a career spanning 6 years, 1 month, and 26 days, Ohba amassed a record of 35-2-1, which includes 16 wins via KO, 3 of which were in world-title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2015.
Masao Ohba was born in Sumida City, Tokyo, Japan on October 21, 1949. He made his professional debut at the age of 17 years on November 7, 1966 against Kazuyoshi Watanabe. Ohba defeated Watanabe via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Ohba became a world champion at the age of 21 after 28 professional fights. He challenged Berkrerk Chartvanchai for the WBA flyweight title and stopped the champion in the 13th of the 15-round fight, winning his first world title.
Ohba's last fight was a 12th-round KO victory over Chartchai Chionoi at age 23, on January 2, 1973, in which he successfully defended his WBA flyweight championship.
