Jermain Taylor's Boxing Career
Jermain Taylor was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, U.S. on August 11, 1978. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on January 27, 2001 against Chris Walsh. Taylor defeated Walsh via 4th round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Taylor became a world champion fight at the age of 26 after 23 professional fights. He challenged Bernard Hopkins for the WBA (Undisputed), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring middleweight titles and defeated the champion via 12-round split decision, winning his first world titles. With this win, he also became the undisputed middleweight world champion — in his very first world-title fight.
Taylor's last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Sam Soliman at age 36, on October 4, 2014, in which he won the IBF middleweight world title.
