George Chuvalo was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on September 12, 1937. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on April 23, 1956 against Gordon Baldwin. Chuvalo defeated Baldwin via 2nd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Chuvalo got his first shot at a world title at the age of 28 after 44 professional fights. On November 1, 1965 Chuvalo challenged Ernie Terrell's WBA heavyweight title but lost via 15-round unanimous decision.
Chuvalo's last fight was a 3rd-round TKO victory over George Jerome at age 41, on December 11, 1978.
