Boxing Career
Nigel Benn was born in Ilford, London, England on January 22, 1964. He made his professional debut at the age of 23 years on January 28, 1987 against Graeme Ahmed. Benn defeated Ahmed via 2nd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Benn became a world champion at the age of 26 after 26 professional fights. He challenged Doug DeWitt for the WBO middleweight title and stopped the champion in the 8th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the super-middleweight (WBC) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Benn's last fight was a 6th-round RTD loss to Steve Collins at age 32, on November 9, 1996, in which he was fighting for the WBO super-middleweight title.
