Al Cole was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, U.S. on April 21, 1964. He made his professional debut at the age of 24 years on March 25, 1989 against Lorenzo Thomas. Cole defeated Thomas via 3rd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Cole became a world champion at the age of 28 after 21 professional fights. He challenged James Warring for the IBF cruiserweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
Cole's last fight was a split decision loss to Danny Williams at age 47, on September 3, 2011.
