Orlin Norris was born in Lubbock, Texas, U.S. on October 4, 1965. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on June 16, 1986 against Lionel Washington. Norris defeated Washington via 3rd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Norris became a world champion at the age of 28 after 41 professional fights. He challenged Marcelo Victor Figueroa for the vacant WBA cruiserweight title and stopped Figueroa in the 6th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
Norris' last fight was a 7th-round TKO loss to Ola Afolabi at age 40, on November 3, 2005.
