Daniel Jacobs' Boxing Career
Daniel Jacobs was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, U.S. on February 3, 1987. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on December 8, 2007 against Jose Jesus Hurtado. Jacobs defeated Hurtado via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Jacobs got his first shot at a world title at the age of 23 after 20 professional fights. On July 31, 2010 Jacobs challenged Dmitry Pirog's WBO middleweight title but lost via 5th round KO.
He became a world champion on August 9, 2014 at the age of 27 years, after by defeating Jarrod Fletcher in a clash for the vacant WBA (Regular) middleweight champion. Jacobs stopped Fletcher in the 5th round of the 12-round world-title fight. This was his 29th fight as a professional.
Jacobs then went on to successfully win the IBF middleweight world title as well.
Jacobs' last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Shane Mosley Jr. at age 37, on July 6, 2024.
