Boxing Career
Dmitry Pirog was born in Temryuk, Temryuksky District, Krasnodar Krai, Soviet Union on June 27, 1980. He made his professional debut at the age of 25 years on July 29, 2005 against Sasun Oganyan. Pirog defeated Oganyan via 6th round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Pirog became a world champion at the age of 30 after 16 professional fights. He challenged Daniel Jacobs for the vacant WBO middleweight title and stopped Jacobs in the 5th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
Pirog's last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Nobuhiro Ishida at age 31, on May 1, 2012, in which he successfully defended his WBO middleweight championship.
