Erislandy Lara's Boxing Career
Erislandy Lara was born in Guantanamo, Cuba on April 11, 1983. He made his professional debut at the age of 25 years on July 4, 2008 against Ivan Maslov. Lara defeated Maslov via 4 round points decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Lara got elevated as the WBA (Regular) super-welterweight champion at the age of 31 after 24 professional fights, and had his first world-title defense fight against Ishe Smith on December 12, 2014. He defeated Smith via 12-round unanimous decision.
He then went on to successfully win the middleweight (WBA) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
