Jarrett Hurd was born in Accokeek, Maryland, U.S. on August 31, 1990. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on September 29, 2012 against Mike Arnold. Hurd defeated Arnold via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Hurd became a world champion at the age of 26 after 19 professional fights. He challenged Tony Harrison for the vacant IBF super-welterweight title and stopped Harrison in the 9th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the WBA super-welterweight world title as well.
