Robin Reid was born in Sefton, Merseyside, England on February 19, 1971. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on February 27, 1993 against Mark Lee Dawson. Reid defeated Dawson via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Reid became a world champion at the age of 25 after 22 professional fights. He challenged Vincenzo Nardiello for the WBC super-middleweight title and stopped the champion in the 7th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.

Reid's last fight was a 5th-round TKO loss to Kenny Anderson at age 41, on October 20, 2012.
