Boxing Career
Sultan Ibragimov was born in Tlyarata, Dagestan ASSR, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union on March 8, 1975. He made his professional debut at the age of 27 years on May 25, 2002 against Tracy Williams. Ibragimov defeated Williams via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Ibragimov became a world champion at the age of 32 after 21 professional fights. He challenged Shannon Briggs for the WBO heavyweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
Ibragimov's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Wladimir Klitschko at age 32, on February 23, 2008, in which he lost his WBO heavyweight title in a unification bout.
