Ossie Ocasio's Boxing Career

Ossie Ocasio was born in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 12, 1955. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on February 20, 1976 against Lorenzo Simons. Ocasio defeated Simons via 3rd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Ocasio got his first shot at a world title at the age of 23 after 13 professional fights. On March 23, 1979 Ocasio challenged Larry Holmes' WBC heavyweight title but lost via 7th round TKO.

He became a world champion on February 13, 1982 at the age of 26 years, after by defeating Robbie Williams, the then-reining WBA cruiserweight champion, via 15-round split decision. This was his 20th fight as a professional.

Ocasio's last fight was an 8th-round TKO loss to Alex Garcia at age 37, on November 23, 1992.
