Mike McCallum (The Bodysnatcher) is a 68-year-old retired Jamaican professional boxer. He is a three-weightclass world champion with 3 world-title wins. In a career spanning 16 years, 1 month, and 8 days, McCallum amassed a record of 49-5-1, which includes 36 wins via KO, 8 of which were in world-title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2003.
Mike McCallum's Boxing Career
Mike McCallum was born in Kingston, Jamaica on December 7, 1955. He made his professional debut at the age of 25 years on January 14, 1981 against Rigoberto Lopez. McCallum defeated Lopez via 4th round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
McCallum became a world champion at the age of 28 after 21 professional fights. He challenged Sean Mannion for the vacant WBA super-welterweight title and defeated Mannion via 15-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully conquer the middleweight (WBA) and light-heavyweight (WBC) divisions as well to become a three-division world champion.
McCallum's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to James Toney at age 41, on February 22, 1997.
