Boxing Career
Lloyd Honeyghan was born in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica on April 22, 1960. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on December 8, 1980 against Mike Sullivan. Honeyghan defeated Sullivan via 6 round points decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Honeyghan became a world champion fight at the age of 26 after 27 professional fights. He challenged Donald Curry for the WBA, WBC, IBF, and The Ring welterweight titles and stopped the champion in the 6th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world titles. With this win, he also became the undisputed welterweight world champion — in his very first world-title fight.
Honeyghan's last fight was a 3rd-round TKO loss to Adrian Dodson at age 34, on February 25, 1995.
