Tavoris Cloud was born in Tallahassee, Florida, U.S. on January 10, 1982. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on April 2, 2004 against Luis Reyes. Cloud defeated Reyes via 3rd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Cloud became a world champion at the age of 27 after 19 professional fights. He challenged Clinton Woods for the vacant IBF light-heavyweight title and defeated Woods via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
