Jean-Marc Mormeck was born in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, France on June 3, 1972. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on March 25, 1995 against Pierrick Trideau. Mormeck defeated Trideau via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Mormeck became a world champion at the age of 29 after 28 professional fights. He challenged Virgil Hill for the WBA cruiserweight title and stopped the champion in the 9th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the WBC and The Ring cruiserweight world titles as well.
Mormeck's last fight was a majority decision loss to Mateusz Masternak at age 42, on December 5, 2014.
