Ultiminio Ramos Zaqueira (Sugar) was a Mexican professional boxer. He was a featherweight world champion with 3 world-title wins. In a career spanning 14 years, 6 months, and 19 days, Ramos amassed a record of 55-7-4, which includes 40 wins via KO, 2 of which were in world-title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2001.
Sugar Ramos was born in Matanzas, Cuba on December 2, 1941. He made his professional debut at the age of 15 years on October 5, 1957 against Rene Arce. Ramos defeated Arce via 2nd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Ramos became a world champion fight at the age of 21 after 42 professional fights. He challenged Davey S. Moore for the WBA, The Ring, and WBC featherweight titles and stopped the champion in the 10th of the 15-round fight, winning his first world titles. With this win, he also became the undisputed featherweight world champion — in his very first world-title fight.
Ramos' last fight was a 10th-round TKO loss to Cesar Sinda at age 30, on April 24, 1972.
