Boxing Career
Teófimo López was born in Brooklyn, New York, U.S. on July 30, 1997. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on November 5, 2016 against Ishwar Siqueiros. López defeated Siqueiros via 2nd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
López became a world champion at the age of 22 after 14 professional fights. He challenged Richard Commey for the IBF lightweight title and stopped the champion in the 2nd of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the super-lightweight (WBO, The Ring) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
López' latest fight was a unanimous decision victory over Steve Claggett at age 26, on June 29, 2024, in which he successfully defended his WBO and The Ring super-lightweight championship.
