Takashi Miura's Boxing Career
Takashi Miura was born in Mitane, Yamamoto District, Akita on May 14, 1984. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on July 12, 2003 against Yutaka Sato. Miura defeated Sato via 6-round unanimous decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Miura got his first shot at a world title at the age of 26 after 23 professional fights. On January 31, 2011 Miura challenged Takashi Uchiyama's WBA super-featherweight title but lost via 8th round RTD.
He became a world champion on April 8, 2013 at the age of 28 years, after by defeating Gamaliel Díaz, the then-reining WBC super-featherweight champion, via 9th round TKO. This was his 29th fight as a professional.
Miura's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Miguel Berchelt at age 33, on July 15, 2017, in which he was fighting for the WBC super-featherweight title.
