Boxing Career
Nathan Cleverly was born in Caerphilly, Wales on February 17, 1987. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on July 23, 2005 against Ernie Smith. Cleverly defeated Smith via 4 round points decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Cleverly got elevated as the WBO light-heavyweight champion at the age of 24 after 22 professional fights, and had his first world-title defense fight against Aleksy Kuziemski on May 21, 2011. He stopped Kuziemski in the 4th of the 12-round fight.
He then went on to successfully win the WBA light-heavyweight world title as well.
Cleverly's last fight was a 5th-round TKO loss to Badou Jack at age 30, on August 26, 2017, in which he lost his WBA (Regular) light-heavyweight title.
