Boxing Career
Tony Bellew was born in Toxteth, Liverpool, England on November 30, 1982. He made his professional debut at the age of 24 years on October 6, 2007 against Jamie Ambler. Bellew defeated Ambler via 2nd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Bellew got his first shot at a world title at the age of 28 after 16 professional fights. On October 15, 2011 Bellew challenged Nathan Cleverly's WBO light-heavyweight title but lost via 12-round majority decision.
He became a world champion on May 29, 2016 at the age of 33 years, after by defeating Ilunga Makabu, the then-reining WBC cruiserweight champion, via 3rd round KO. This was his 30th fight as a professional.
Bellew's last fight was an 8th-round KO loss to Oleksandr Usyk at age 35, on November 10, 2018, in which he was fighting for the undisputed cruiserweight world championship.
