Boxing Career
José Ramírez was born in Avenal, California, U.S. on August 12, 1992. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on December 8, 2012 against Corey Seigwarth. Ramírez defeated Seigwarth via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Ramírez became a world champion at the age of 25 after 21 professional fights. He challenged Amir Imam for the vacant WBC super-lightweight title and defeated Imam via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the WBO super-lightweight world title as well.
Ramírez' latest fight was a unanimous decision loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. at age 32, on November 16, 2024.
