Rances Barthelemy's Boxing Career
Rances Barthelemy was born in Arroyo Naranjo, Cuba on June 25, 1986. He made his professional debut at the age of 23 years on August 8, 2009 against Jamal Clay. Barthelemy defeated Clay via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Barthelemy got his first shot at a world title at the age of 27 after 19 professional fights. On January 3, 2014 Barthelemy challenged Argenis Mendez' IBF super-featherweight title but lost via 2nd round KO.
In his next fight, he got another shot at the super-featherweight IBF title. This time he defeated Mendez via 2nd round KO, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the lightweight (IBF) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
