Roman Karmazin was born in Kuznetsk, Russia on January 2, 1973. He made his professional debut at the age of 23 years on August 17, 1996 against Eduard Gavaza. Karmazin defeated Gavaza via 2nd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Karmazin became a world champion at the age of 32 after 36 professional fights. He challenged Kassim Ouma for the IBF super-welterweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
Karmazin's last fight was a 9th-round TKO loss to Osumanu Adama at age 38, on October 7, 2011.
