Ken Buchanan's Boxing Career

Ken Buchanan was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on June 28, 1945. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on September 20, 1965 against Brian Rocky Tonks. Buchanan defeated Tonks via 2nd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Buchanan became a world champion fight at the age of 25 after 37 professional fights. He challenged Ismael Laguna for the WBA and The Ring lightweight titles and defeated the champion via 15-round split decision, winning his first world titles.

He then went on to successfully win the WBC lightweight world title as well — and undisputed at lightweight.

Buchanan's last fight was an points decision loss to George Feeney at age 36, on January 25, 1982.
