Boxing Career
Jonathan González was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on April 24, 1991. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on April 1, 2011 against Jonathan Gonzalez. González defeated Gonzalez via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
González got his first shot at a world title at the age of 28 after 26 professional fights. On August 24, 2019 González challenged Kosei Tanaka's WBO flyweight title but lost via 7th round TKO.
He became a world champion on October 16, 2021 at the age of 30 years, after by defeating Elwin Soto, the then-reining WBO light-flyweight champion, via 12-round split decision. This was his 30th fight as a professional.
González' latest fight was a 1st-round TKO loss to Anthony Olascuaga at age 33, on October 14, 2024, in which he was fighting for the WBO flyweight title.
