Shokichi Iwata Record

Shokichi Iwata was born in Shibuya, Japan on February 2, 1996. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on December 8, 2018 against Joel Bermudez. Iwata defeated Bermudez via 4th round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Iwata got his first shot at a world title at the age of 26 after 9 professional fights. On November 1, 2022 Iwata challenged Jonathan González' WBO light-flyweight title but lost via 12-round unanimous decision.

He became a world champion on October 13, 2024 at the age of 28 years, after by defeating Jairo Noriega, the then-reining WBO light-flyweight champion, via 3rd round TKO. This was his 15th fight as a professional.

Iwata's latest fight was a unanimous decision loss to René Santiago at age 29, on March 13, 2025, in which he lost his WBO light-flyweight title.
