Boxing Career
Acelino Freitas was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil on September 21, 1975. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on July 14, 1995 against Jose Adriano Soares. Freitas defeated Soares via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Freitas became a world champion at the age of 23 after 20 professional fights. He challenged Anatoly Alexandrov for the WBO super-featherweight title and stopped the champion in the 1st of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the lightweight (WBO) title also to become a two-division world champion.
Freitas' last fight was an unanimous decision victory over Gabriel Martinez at age 42, on November 11, 2017.
