Luis Nery's Boxing Career
Luis Nery was born in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico on December 12, 1994. He made his professional debut at the age of 17 years on May 5, 2012 against José Guadalupe Salgado. Nery defeated Salgado via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Nery became a world champion fight at the age of 22 after 23 professional fights. He challenged Shinsuke Yamanaka for the WBC and The Ring bantamweight titles and stopped the champion in the 4th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world titles.
He then went on to successfully win the super-bantamweight (WBC) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Nery's latest fight was a 6th-round KO loss to Naoya Inoue at age 29, on May 6, 2024, in which he was fighting for the undisputed super-bantamweight world championship.
