Rocky Marciano (The Brockton Blockbuster) was an American professional boxer. He was a heavyweight world champion. In a career spanning 8 years, 6 months, and 4 days, Marciano amassed an undefeated record of 49-0, which includes 43 wins via KO, 6 of which were in world-title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 1990.
Rocky Marciano was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, U.S. on September 1, 1923. He made his professional debut at the age of 23 years on March 17, 1947 against Lee Epperson. Marciano defeated Epperson via 3rd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Marciano became a world champion at the age of 29 after 42 professional fights. He challenged Jersey Joe Walcott for the The Ring heavyweight title and stopped the champion in the 13th of the 15-round fight, winning his first world title.
Marciano's last fight was a 9th-round KO victory over Archie Moore at age 32, on September 21, 1955, in which he successfully defended his The Ring heavyweight championship.
