Richie Woodhall

Richie Woodhall was born in Birmingham, England on April 17, 1968. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on October 18, 1990 against Kevin Hayde. Woodhall defeated Hayde via 3rd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Woodhall got his first shot at a world title at the age of 28 after 21 professional fights. On October 19, 1996 Woodhall challenged Keith Holmes' WBC middleweight title but lost via 12th round TKO.

He became a world champion on March 27, 1998 at the age of 29 years, after by defeating Thulani Malinga, the then-reining WBC super-middleweight champion, via 12-round unanimous decision. This was his 24th fight as a professional.

Woodhall's last fight was a 10th-round TKO loss to Joe Calzaghe at age 32, on December 16, 2000, in which he was fighting for the WBO super-middleweight title.
