Ingemar Johansson (Ingo) was a Swedish professional boxer. He was a heavyweight world champion. In a career spanning 10 years, 4 months, and 16 days, Johansson amassed a record of 26-2, which includes 17 wins via KO, 1 of which was in a world-title fight. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2002.
Ingemar Johansson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden on September 22, 1932. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on December 5, 1952 against Robert Masson. Johansson defeated Masson via 4th round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Johansson became a world champion at the age of 26 after 21 professional fights. He challenged Floyd Patterson for the The Ring heavyweight title and stopped the champion in the 3rd of the 15-round fight, winning his first world title.
Johansson's last fight was a points decision victory over Brian London at age 30, on April 21, 1963.
