Tony Zale (Man of Steel) was an American professional boxer. He was a middleweight world champion with 2 world-title wins. In a career spanning 14 years, 3 months, and 10 days, Zale amassed a record of 67-18-2, which includes 45 wins via KO, 2 of which were in world-title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 1991.
Tony Zale was born in Gary, Indiana, U.S. on May 29, 1913. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on June 11, 1934 against Eddie Allen. Zale defeated Allen via 4 round points decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Zale became a world champion at the age of 28 after 67 professional fights. He challenged Georgie Abrams for the The Ring middleweight title and defeated the champion via 15-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
Zale's last fight was an 11th-round RTD loss to Marcel Cerdan at age 35, on September 21, 1948, in which he lost his The Ring middleweight title.
