Gene Fullmer Record
Gene Fullmer (Cyclone) was an American professional boxer. He was a middleweight world champion. In a career spanning 11 years, 11 months, and 16 days, Fullmer amassed a record of 47-6-3, which includes 15 wins via KO. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 1991.
Boxing Career
Gene Fullmer was born in West Jordan, Utah, U.S. on July 21, 1931. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on August 25, 1951 against Buddy Sloan. Fullmer defeated Sloan via 2nd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Fullmer became a world champion at the age of 25 after 32 professional fights. He challenged Sugar Ray Robinson for the The Ring middleweight title and defeated the champion via 15-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the WBA middleweight world title as well.
Fullmer's last fight was a 7th-round RTD loss to Dick Tiger at age 32, on August 10, 1963, in which he was fighting for the WBA and The Ring middleweight titles.
