Joseph Diaz' Boxing Career
Joseph Diaz was born in South El Monte, California, U.S. on November 23, 1992. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on December 15, 2012 against Vicente Afaro Martinez. Diaz defeated Martinez via 4-round unanimous decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Diaz got his first shot at a world title at the age of 25 after 26 professional fights. On May 19, 2018 Diaz challenged Gary Russell Jr.'s WBC featherweight title but lost via 12-round unanimous decision.
He became a world champion on January 30, 2020 at the age of 27 years, after by defeating Tevin Farmer, the then-reining IBF super-featherweight champion, via 12-round unanimous decision. This was his 32nd fight as a professional.
