Melvin Jerusalem

Melvin Jerusalem was born in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Philippines on February 22, 1994. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on July 13, 2014 against Michael Camelion. Jerusalem defeated Camelion via 4-round unanimous decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Jerusalem got his first shot at a world title at the age of 22 after 11 professional fights. On January 25, 2017 Jerusalem challenged Wanheng Menayothin's WBC strawweight title but lost via 12-round unanimous decision.

He became a world champion on January 6, 2023 at the age of 28 years, after by defeating Masataka Taniguchi, the then-reining WBO strawweight champion, via 2nd round TKO. This was his 22nd fight as a professional.

Jerusalem then went on to successfully win the WBC strawweight world title as well.

Jerusalem's latest fight was a split decision victory over Yudai Shigeoka at age 30, on March 31, 2024, in which he won the WBC strawweight world title.
