Melvin Jerusalem was born in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Philippines on February 22, 1994. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on July 13, 2014 against Michael Camelion. Jerusalem defeated Camelion via 4-round unanimous decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Jerusalem got his first shot at a world title at the age of 22 after 11 professional fights. On January 25, 2017 Jerusalem challenged Wanheng Menayothin's WBC strawweight title but lost via 12-round unanimous decision.
