Thammanoon Niyomtrong was born in Surin, Thailand on September 20, 1990. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on June 22, 2012 against Marzon Cabilla. Niyomtrong defeated Cabilla via 6 round technical decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Niyomtrong became a world champion at the age of 25 after 12 professional fights. He challenged Byron Rojas for the WBA strawweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
Niyomtrong's latest fight was a majority decision victory over Alex Winwood at age 33, on September 7, 2024, in which he successfully defended his WBA (Super) strawweight championship.
