Edwin Rosario (Chapo) was a Puerto Rican professional boxer. He was a two-weightclass world champion with 4 world-title wins. In a career spanning 18 years, 6 months, and 22 days, Rosario amassed a record of 47-6, which includes 40 wins via KO, 5 of which were in world-title fights. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2006.
Edwin Rosario was born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico on March 15, 1963. He made his professional debut at the age of 15 years on March 3, 1979 against Jorge Ortega. Rosario defeated Ortega via 2nd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Rosario became a world champion at the age of 20 after 21 professional fights. He challenged José Luis Ramírez for the vacant WBC lightweight title and defeated Ramírez via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the super-lightweight (WBA) title also to become a two-division world champion.
Rosario's last fight was a 2nd-round KO victory over Harold Bennett at age 34, on September 25, 1997.
